Championing change on air: inspiring conversations on transforming the narrative surrounding incarceration

how it works

Our founder Lady Unchained is a presenter on the award-winning National Prison Radio [NPR]: the world's first national radio station for people in prison - made by prisoners, for prisoners.

The station broadcasts into prison cells across England and Wales 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with the aim of reducing reoffending by supporting people through their sentences and preparing them for life after release which fits seamlessly with our own mission.

Lady Unchained presents on NPR as a crucial supplement to our mentoring and workshop modules, featuring on programmes that target the key factors linked to reducing people’s likelihood of reoffending.

Unearthing talent behind bars and supporting people into training and employment in the production sector is one of the key goals of both Unchained and National Prison Radio.
